An extreme makeover it needn’t be. Revamp right here for less with a dash of creativity, a dab of planning and a smidge of the Lazuli magic.
Fabrics, we’re talking fabrics today. What better way to ring in the changes than by re-looking at your fabrics? Curtains, upholstery and cushion covers to be specific. Feel free to discriminate when picking a spot to work with. Your bedroom over the kids’, the dining area over the living. Love a print, but hanker for the stripe - get both. Transform that faded armchair cringing in the corner into an accent chair with a personality of its own. How? Re-upholster the chair back and sides with the stripe, while the inside gets the print. Excitement all around! To ensure you procrastinate not, we have worked with some very talented interior stylists, all passionate about fabric, who have hand-picked five looks you can shop exclusively here at Lazuli.
'An Oasis of Calm', the scheme above is from Rupika Talwar of Aaliaan Living. All dappled light and florals with a palette that celebrates the Pantone colour of the year, Rose Quartz and Serenity. Curtains in the creamy white embroidered fabric, accent chair in meadow green with decorative rose quartz floral embroidered cushions. The couch in pale mineral blue with a combination of the serenity floral embroidered cushions and cushions in the creamy white as used for your curtains. Add a couple of decorative chairs upholstered in the blush pink with a cushion in meadow green. Shop the collection here.
The scheme above has been put together by Sonali Kapoor of Spring Rhythm. She likes to call this her 'Pebble & Sand' collection. In varying shades of beige and grey, this colour palette is very calming, yet intense. Stunning in those indoor/outdoor spaces. The curtains in cotton silk are light and semi-sheer and will capture any passing breath of fresh air, creating lovely movement. Shop the collection here.
'At The Altar Of Blue' by Anokhi Furnishing, a perfect antidote to the heat outside. Mix the old with the new and mix the patterns up too. The hero of this collection in our opinion? A sublime indigo chevron. Something Kaveri fell upon in delight, gleeful at the happy ending to her hunt for chevron nirvana. Use said chevron on the couch, heap with cushions both in the tiny indigo maple leaf print and blue and white floral. An understated foil to this exuberance would be the blue on white ‘ikat’ print for your curtains. Shop the collection here.
The contemporary take on 'A Plantation Summer', it is from Maya Menon. Billowing white linen curtains, a solid charcoal couch with scatter cushions using the bold cranberry floral in combination with the delicate embroidered floral. Round it off by covering the stand alone single chair in the charcoal on neutral embroidered fabric. Shop the collection here.
'This Country Cottage' scheme is also from Rupika Talwar and is all about light and air, charm and chintz. The end result, a corner or room with the allure of a cottage in the countryside right here in your urban space. Lemon yellow, lavender, white and neutral all together in incredible colour play. Curtains in lemon, wingback chair using a combination of the yellow floral and lemon. Add a cushion in lemon, piped with the floral. Couch in the neutral with cushions in varying sizes using the yellow printed floral as well as the lavender embroidered floral fabric. Throw in some lemon cushions piped in the neutral and trust us, you’re not going over the top when you add some neutral cushions piped in lemon too. Mix and match within these fabrics, you can’t go wrong. Shop the collection here.
So all that’s left to say is, sit back and put your feet up, pour yourself a tall glass of something cold, clinking ice-cubes a must. Now you can put your mind to solving the pleasurable problem of how you could get away with buying as many of these fabrics as possible without attracting undue attention!
